Established in 1975 as the “Subaru Car Club”, we are a non-commercial social club dedicated to AWD/4WD touring and associated activities of a recreational nature.
Our club is open to owners of ALL makes and models of AWD and 4WD vehicles who would like to participate in touring and exploring our great country. Whether it be a day trip, a weekend away camping or an extended tour of longer duration, there is something to suit everyone.
As a member of 4WD NSW & ACT, we adhere to the “Tread Lightly” initiative and the “Four Wheel Drivers’ Code of Ethics”.
Training
As part of your membership with the Subaru and Recreational 4WD Club, you’ll have access to our Basic 4WD Driver Awareness Training sessions. Once our qualified supervisors are satisfied with your competency, you’ll be able to pursue nationally recognised, certificated courses through Get About Training Services at your own expense.
Social Trips
Great. Could you please include ‘camping’ and ‘Trailers’ and ‘caravans’ in this: A great variety of family-friendly social trips are organised throughout the year, held at various venues across Sydney. Whether it’s our annual Christmas Party, the festive Easter long weekend, Australia Day long weekend, or a relaxing long weekend getaway, there is always an exciting event on the calendar. These gatherings provide a fantastic opportunity for partners, children, and friends to join in the fun, relax in an informal setting, and experience the enjoyable side of club life away from the tracks.
4WD Trips
Club trips venture to all corners of NSW and beyond, ranging from day trips and weekends away to extended tours of one, two or three weeks — or even longer. Trips are graded by difficulty and are always run in a responsible, friendly and supportive atmosphere. Many trips are suitable for camper trailers, and kids are always welcome. Best of all, club trips are free for members.
General Meetings
Monthly meetings are generally held in the evening of the second Tuesday of the month at various locations, and visitors are very welcome to attend. Visit our Events Calendar for upcoming meeting dates.
Join Us
Our club is run by members, for members. Joining is simple — become a member and you’ll be eligible to enjoy all the club has to offer straight away.
Visitors are welcome to attend our monthly meetings and are also invited to participate in one or two trips on a get-to-know-you basis before joining the club (excludes “Member Only” trips). Check out our Events Calendar for upcoming activities.

Members have access to a high-quality monthly club magazine, as well as a dedicated Member Zone on our website — featuring private forums, articles, club by-laws, document downloads, track permit information, trip reports and member feedback. Technical, trip and general advice is always on hand. Members also enjoy access to an apparel and equipment shop offering quality goods at discounted prices.
